Why NOT to do IMAG

I was surfing the web and found this great article about how a lot of small churches are trying to do IMAG just because "it's what all the BIG churches are doing." I think this helped reinforce some things in my mind, but I want to hear what you think. Please read the article below, and post your comments in the comment section of the Technical Arts Blog.
Also, while you're there, check out some of the other cool articles on his site about things like doing 16:9 projection in church.

Woo-Hoo! The Lighting is Back!

What a roller-coaster. I was just informed that we CAN get the lift, it will be here Tuesday, tomorrow. Let please put Monday and Tuesday back on the calendar. That's TODAY and tomorrow. Tonight, we will do what we can with the scaffolding on the sides lights. And if Jason wants to work on some electrical, too.

"People of Passion" Creative Help

You may have heard that the church is performing an original musical this year. It was written by Brad Trumbel and is called "The People of the Passion" or "People of Passion" (TBD). Either way, this will be the biggest production the church has done since the hey days in the old Chapel. Performances will be Friday-Sunday, April 21-23 at 7:30 PM.

It will need the biggest and best Tech team. There will need to be full camera support, video playback, CG, Spot lights, the works! And I need YOUR help. There are a few technical hurdles I still want to figure out (like how to get enough intercoms). But this will also present some new pre-production opportunities.

I am asking for help on the creative side of things. The musical will be about 7 people in Jesus' day, and how Jesus affected their lives. This will need some creative support such as pictures of locales, events from Jesus Day, etc. If you are interested, please let me know ASAP and I will give you a CD. NOTE: You don't have to know Photoshop or Premiere, just be creative. Listen to the songs and think of visual cues that will enhance the music. We will schedule a meeting after you've all had a chance to hear the music.
